The Journey is So Short

A young lady sat in a public transport. An old grumpy lady came and sat by her side as she bumped into her with her numerous bags. The person sitting on the other side of her got upset, asking the young lady why she did not speak up and say something.

The young lady responded with a smile, 'It is not necessary to be rude or argue over something so insignificant, the journey together is so short. I get off at the next stop.'

The response deserves to be written in golden letters in our daily behaviour and everywhere: It is not necessary to argue over something so insignificant, our journey together is so short.

If each one of us could realise that our passage down here has such a short duration, to darken it with quarrels, futile arguments, not forgiving others, ingratitude and bad attitudes would be a waste of time and energy.

Did someone break your heart? Be calm, the journey is so short...

Did someone betray, bully, cheat or humiliate you? Be calm, forgive, the journey is so short...

Whatever penalty anyone serves us, let's remember that our journey together is so short...

Let us therefore be filled with gratitude and sweetness. Sweetness is a virtue never likened to bad character nor cowardice, but better likened to greatness.

Our journey together down here is really short and cannot be reversed... No one knows the duration of his journey.

No one knows if he will have to alight at the next stop.

Let us therefore cherish and hold on to friends and family! Let us be cal, respectful, kind, thankful and forgiving to each other. If I've hurt you, I ask your forgiveness. But please remember: The journey down here is so short...

Shakespeare said...

I always feel happy, you know why?
Because I don't expect anything from anyone, expectations always hurt...
Life is short, so love your life.
Be happy, and keep smiling. Just live for yourself.
Before you speak, listen.
Before you write, think.
Before you spend, earn.
Before you pray, forgive.
Before you hurt, feel.
Before you hate, love.
Before you quit, try.
Before you die, live.

Food for thought

Don't walk in front of me... I may not follow...
Don't walk behind me... I may not lead...
Just walk beside me... And be my friend...

Confidence comes naturally with success, but success comes only to those who are confident. So begin your day with confidence.

The seeds of kindness you plant today will bloom in the hearts of those that you touch, forever.

Spend your time on those who love you unconditionally. Don't waste it on those who only love you when the conditions are right for them.

Success keeps you glowing,
But only God keeps you going.

We have to search our own routes to reach our destination.

There will be sunshine and rain,
There will be loss and gain.

The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you don't stop.

Missing someone isn't about how long since you've seen them or the amount of time you've talked to them. It's about that very moment when you're doing something and wishing they were right there with you.

Kindness makes you the most beautiful person in the world no matter what you look like.

A beautiful dress can change the personality. However, a beautiful behaviour can change the whole life! Change your dress as often as you like, but wear your best behaviour permanently.

Start your Day with Positive Thoughts

Life is all about three things - winning, losing and sharing.
Winning others' heart, losing bad things and sharing happy moments.

Life is better when you are happy, but it is even better when other people are happy because of you, so share happiness everywhere in the environment.

You will never get what you want until you are thankful for what you have.

The beauty of the morning is not in the freshness of the atmosphere. It is in the freshness of our thoughts and feelings of how we wish to start our day.

Many people are able to speak about beautiful things but only a a few of them are able to listen, because listening requires mind power.

Happiness is one of our greatest gifts. It is to be shared, cherished, and enjoyed every day of our lives.

One small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day.

Where there is great love there are always miracles. - Willa Cather

In life we all haven an unspeakable secret, an irreversible regret, a broken promise, an irreplaceable lost, and unforgettable love. Still, life is about being happy, because everything in life can be summed up in just few words. Life is a beautiful journey.

Hard work is like stairs and luck is like lift. Sometimes lift may fail, but stairs will always take you to the top.

Good behaviour doesn't have any monetary value. But it has the power to purchase million hearts.

The mind is a powerful force. It can enslave us or empower us. It can plunge us into the depths of misery or take us to the heights of ecstasy. Learn to use the power wisely. - David Cuschieri

Enjoy every moment of your life..
Life is too short to waste on grudges.
Laugh when you can, apologise when you should, and let go of what you can't change.

To have peace in life, love the people who treat you right and pray for the ones who don't.

Appreciate every little beautiful moment in every day of your life. Give it a try and you'll see the world from another perspective.

God has given us eyes not to insult but to look beyond situations.
Mouth not to criticise but to speak for truth.
Hands not to punish sinners but to give a helping hand.
Ears not to be insensitive but to hear voice in pain.
Everything has its own purpose. We should use it well.

We are human. We are not perfect.
We are alive. We try things.
We make mistakes.
We stumble. We fall. We get hurt.
We rise again. We try again.
We keep learning. We keep growing.
And we are thankful for this priceless opportunity called life.

Judge nothing, you will be happy.
Forgive everything, you will be happier.
Love everything, you will be happiest.

God's blessings come as a surprise but how much you receive depends on how much your heart believes!

What's done is done. What's gone is gone.
One of life's lessons is always moving on. It's okay to look back and think of fond memories but keep moving forward.

Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It's about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart and a pretty soul.

Life is too short! Take time to celebrate and appreciate the amazing people in your life.
It's not what we have in life, but who we have in our life that matters.

Life is too short to worry about what others say or think about you. So just enjoy life, have fun, and give them something to talk about.

Good results are generated at the end of the day only if good thoughts are generated at the beginning of the day.

When people respect you as a person, they admire you.
When they respect you as a friend, they love you.
When they respect you as a leader, they follow you.

Observe and ask questions of people you respect, and you'll gain incredible lessons that you can apply to your own life.

If we wait until we're ready, we'll be waiting for the rest of our lives.

Motivation

Laugh often,
Give big hugs.
Play your favourite songs loud.
Make phone calls to loved one.
Breathe deep.

Appreciate what you have.
Be thankful and stop complaining.
Live more, complain less.
Have more smiles, less stress.

Live one fine day at a time!
Do not let your worries and fears stop you from living your precious life.
May your heart continue to smile.
May your day be filled with love, inspirations and blessings.

You gotta take the good with the bad
smile with the sad
love what you got
and remember what you had learn to forgive , but never forget

A strong woman may remain silent when people talk behind her back. But that doesn't mean she doesn't notice. It simple means she chooses not to waste her energy on foolishness. She mas more important things to do.

Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words.
Keep your words positive because your words become your behaviour.
Keep your behaviour positive because your behaviour becomes your habits.

Happiness keeps you sweet.
Trials keep you strong.
Sorrow keeps you human.
Failure keeps you humble.
And courage keeps you going.

When we die, the only thing remembered is what you accomplished.
Not the car you drive, the clothes you wear, the house you have, how good you look, how much you earn, what job you have, none of that.
You either die a legend, or you die a nobody.
The choice is yours.

If your eyes are positive, you will love the world.
But if your tongue is positive, the world will love you.
A woman's love is in action. She looks with her heart and feels with her eyes.
A woman is the bank where her family deposits all anger, worries and hurt.
A woman is the cement that keeps her family together and her love lasts a lifetime. - Mother Teresa

Live Life

Serenity Prayer
- Reinhold Neibuhr (1892-1971)

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

---------------------------------------

Don't waste words on people who deserve your silence.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is nothing at all.

---------------------------------------

Don't start your day with the broken pieces of yesterday.
Every morning we wake up is the first day of the rest of our life.

Your smile is your logo.
Your personality is your business card,
and the way you make others feel is your trademark.

----------------------------------------

A lamp doesn't speak...
It introduces itself through its light...

But their achievements expose them.

There is no definition for a good day or a bad day..
It all depends on you and your thoughts that, either you rule the day or the day rules you.

Rule your day.

A beautiful post...from one mother to another mother

There were days when my home used to be filled with laughter, arguments, fights, jokes and loads of mischief.
Books used to be strewn all over the show. Pens and books all over, and clothes messing the rooms, thrown on the beds.
I used to shout at them to tidy up their mess.

In the morning,
One will wake up and say: mama I can't find a certain book.
And the other will say: I can't find my perfume.
And one will say: Mama where's my homework.
And will say: Mama I forgot to complete my homework.

Everyone used to ask about their lost possessions.
And I will say, but take care of your stuff, be responsible, you have to grow up.

And today I stand at the doorway of the room.
The beds are empty.
All the cupboards have only a few pieces of clothes in them.
And what remains is the smell of perfume that lingers in the air.
Everyone had a special smell.
So I take in the smell of their perfume for maybe it will fill the empty ache in my heart.

All I have now is the memory of their laughs and their mischief and their warm hugs.

Today my house is clean and organised and everything is in its place, and it is calm and peaceful. But it is like a desert with no life in it. Do not become angry with your kids about the mess.

Every time they come to visit and they spend time with us, when they are ready to leave, they pull their bags and it is as if they tug my heart along with it.

They close the door behind them and then I stand still and think of the many times I shouted them to close the doors.

Here I am today, closing my own doors. Nobody opens it besides me. Each one has gone to a different city or a different country. All left to find their own path in life.

They have grown up and I wished that they could stay with me forever.
Oh! God, take care of them and all other children wherever they may be, for you are their guide and protector... and always keep them happy.

A Mother

Beautiful Letter by a Father to his Children

Following is a letter to his children from a renowned Hong Kong TV broadcaster and Child Psychologist. The words are actually applicable to all of us, young or old, children or parents!

Dear children,
I am writing this to you because of 3 reasons:

i. Life, fortune and mishaps are unpredictable, nobody knows how long he lives. Some words are better said early.

ii. I am your father, and if I don't tell you these, no one else will.

iii. What is written is my own personal bitter experiences that perhaps could save you a lot of unnecessary heartaches. Remember the following as you go through life:

1. Do not bear grudge towards those who are not good to you. No one has the responsibility of treating you well, except your mother and I. To those who are good to you, you have to treasure it and be thankful, and also you have to be cautious, because, everyone has a motive for every move. When a person is good to you, it does not mean he really likes you. You have to be careful, don't hastily regard him as a real friend.

2. No one is indispensable, nothing is in the world that you must possess. Once you understand this idea, it would be easier for you to go through life when people around you don;t want you anymore, or when you lose what/who you love the most.

3. Life is short. When you waste your life today, tomorrow you would find that life is leaving you. The earlier you treasure your life, the better you enjoy life.

4. Love is but a transient feeling, and this feeling would fade with time and with one's mood. If your so called loved ones leaves you, be patient, time will wash away your aches and sadness. Don't over exaggerate the beauty and sweetness of love, and don't over exaggerate the sadness of falling out of love.

5. A lot of successful people did not receive a good education, that does not mean that you can be successful by not studying hard! Whatever knowledge you gain is your weapon in life. One can go from rags to riches, but one has to start from some rags!

6. I do not expect you to financially support me when I am old, neither would I financially support your whole life. My responsibility as a supporter ends when you are grown up. After that, you decide whether you want to travel in a public transport or in your limousine, whether rich or poor.

7. You honour your words, but don't expect others to be so. You can be good to people, but don't expect people to be good to you. If you don't understand this, you would end up with unnecessary troubles.

8. I have bought lotteries for umpteen years, but I could never strike any prize. That shows if you want to be rich, you have to work hard! There is no free lunch!

9. No matter how much time I have with you, let's treasure the time we have together. W do not know if we would meet again in our next life.;

Your Dad

Perspective

You were born in a first class hospital, I was delivered at home, we both survived.

You went to a private primary school and I went to a public school, we both ended in the same high school.

You woke up from the bed and I woke up from the floor, we both had a peaceful night rest.

Your outfits are all expensive, mine are all simple and cheap, we both still cover our nakedness.

You ride on Lexus Jeep, Range Rover, G Wagon, Hummer Jeep and I use public transport but we still got to our various destination.

You may be reading this post from your Sony Xperia, BB Z10, Q10, Samsung Galaxy 6 Edge, Iphone 6+ and I typed it with my Touch one broken screen, we still see the message.

Lifestyle is not a competition and there are different ways to get a lot of things done, different lanes all leading to the same destination. Just because your neighbour is doing things faster does not mean you are failing.

Happiness doesn't come from having everything, but making the best out of what you have, it's all about how you see yourself.

Happiness is not having what you like. Happiness is liking what you have and being content.

Courtesy says, you must never ask a woman her age and a man his salary.

Do you know why? Have you ever thought about it?

Well there is a beautiful insight...

It is wrong to ask a woman her age because she hardly ever lives for herself!

And it is wrong to ask a man his salary because he hardly ever spends on himself!

Be that ONE

One tree can start a forest,
One smile can begin a friendship,
One hand can lift a soul,
One word can frame the goal,
One candle can wipe out darkness,
One laugh can conquer gloom,
One touch can show you care,
One life can make the difference.

Be that one today.

How to be Happy

In Singapore, Prof Tommy Koh is a smart man - he got first class LLB Hons from Singapore University (then called U of Malaya in the 1960's) and he is Singapore's Ambassador at Large. He is known for his 'law of the seas' legal expertise. I would like to share with everyone Prof Tommy Koh's suggestions on How to be Happy:

Everyone of you may already be happy but may yearn to be happier and I would therefore like to share with my fellow men 10 rules which may help to make you more happy perhaps!

Rule No. 1

Be a positive, optimistic and kind person.

Whether you are a happy or unhappy person depends largely on yourself.

Negative and pessimistic people are generally unhappy people.

Be kind to others. Kindness begets kindness.

Try to do a good deed every day.

You will find that by brightening the lives of others, you will brighten your own life.

Rule No. 2

Have a happy family.

Be good to your parents.

If they are elderly and living by themselves, try to visit them at least once a week and share a weekly meal with them.

One of the problems encountered by our older folks is loneliness.

Be on excellent terms with your spouse.

Whenever I am asked to speak at wedding dinners, I always advise the groom to be faithful to his wife, treat her as if they were still courting.

As for how to behave towards one's children, give a good example as parents.

Love them but not spoil them.

If you are lucky enough to have grandchildren, love them with all your heart.

Rule No. 3

Find a job you enjoy doing.

I think one of the reasons so many Singaporeans are unhappy is that they do not like their jobs.

Since we spend so much of our lives at work, it is important to find a job which is not a chore to endure but a pleasure to do.

In recent years, I have noticed a trend of many Singaporeans leaving their jobs for other jobs which pay them less but give them greater satisfaction. This is a good thing.

Rule No. 4

Treasure your friends.

In your life journey, you will make many friends - at school, at university, in sports or other activities and at work. I hope you will develop a small circle of very good friends, friends who will stand by you in good times and bad times.

Rule No. 5

Exercise regularly.

My wife and I try to swim every day. Exercise not only makes you healthier, it also makes you feel better. Therefore, make regular exercise a part of your lifestyle.

You can't be a happy person if you are not in good health.

Rule No. 6

Enjoy eating but neat healthily and avoid the sin of gluttony.

Singapore is a culinary paradise. Food is abundant, diverse and affordable.

You can eat well on any budget. Let us enjoy our food but let us also exercise some discipline when choosing what to eat.

I have always tried to follow the ancient Asian wisdom of stopping when I feel 80 percent full.

Rule No. 7

Be a volunteer and support philanthropy.

I once heard a speech by Mrs Barbara Bush, the wife of the 41st President of the United States. She said there was a period in her life when she suffered from depression. Instead of seeing a psychiatrist or taking medication to overcome her depression, she decided to be a volunteer.

She found that by helping others less fortunate than herself, her depression gradually disappeared.

Whether we are rich or poor, we should contribute to a cause or causes close to our hearts. In spite of our favourable tax regime and the presence of many wealthy people in our society, I was very disappointed to see how lowly Singapore ranked in the table of countries for philanthropy.

A wise man once said that no man could be truly happy if he lives only for himself.

Rule No. 8

Read books and listen to music.

Reading is an excellent habit. Books keep me company when I am alone.

Books transport me to another country, another culture, another time and into the lives of other people.

Reading is an endless source of happiness.

So is music. I listen to music every day. I thank 92.4 FM for bringing me so much joy every day.

Rule No. 9

Take pleasure in the little things in life.

My wife and I love our regular walks in the Botanic Gardens. I love to watch the sunset.

I find joy in meeting an old friend, attending a concert at the Esplanade and visiting a wonderful exhibition at one of our museums.

Most of all, I enjoy being with my grandson.

Rule No. 10

Don't envy others.

I received this good advice from a wise man, Dr Wee Kim Wee, our sixth President.

Dr Wee once told me that one of the reasons which caused people to be unhappy was that they were envious of others.

Dr Wee said he never envied his friends who had a better education or earned more money or lived in bigger houses or owned more expensive cars.

His rule was to be contented with what he had. I think this is a good rule.

Philosophically, it would be even better if you could feel vicariously happy when you see your friends and former students doing well in life.

Jangan Bangga, Jangan Berlagak

1. Jangan bangga berkulit putih kerena kulit terakhir kita - tanah liat

2. Jangan bangga dengan rumah besar kerana rumah terakhir kita - kubur

3. Jangan bangga dengan baju mahal kerana baju terakhir kita - kain kapan

4. Jangan bangga dengan kereta dan motor besar kerana kenderaan kita yang terakhir - keranda

5. Jangan bangga dengan minyak wangi berjenama kerana wangian terakhir kita - kapur barus

I am the '7%'

Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of the Plain b Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio

To celebrate growing older, I once wrote few lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written.

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and family will.

4. You don't have to win every argument. Stay true to yourself.

5. Cry with someone. it's more healing than crying alone.

6. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

7. Make peace with your past so it won't mess up the present.

8. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

9. Take a deep breath every now and then. It calms the mind.

10. Get rid of anything that isn't useful. Clutter weighs you down in many ways.

11. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

12. It's never too late to be happy. But it's all up to you and no one else.

13. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

14. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy clothes. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

15. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

17. Always choose life.

18. Forgive others and yourself.

19. What other people think of you is none of your business.

20. Time heals almost anything. Give time a little time.

21. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

22. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

23. Believe in miracles.

24. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

25. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

26. Growing old beats the alternative of dying young.

27. Your children get only one childhood.

28. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

29. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

30. Envy is waste of time. Accept what you already have, not what you need.

31. The best is yet to come...

32. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

33. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

It's estimated that 93% won't share this. If you are one of the 7% who will, share this with the title '7%'.

I'm in the 7%. Friends are the family and family is best friends that you choose.

Take Life Easy

After 20 years old, 'foreign country' and 'hometown' is the same. (No matter where, also can adapt)

After 30 years old, 'night time' and 'daytime' is the same. (A few days didn't sleep, doesn't matter)

After 40 years old, 'highly educated' and 'lowly educated' is the same. (Lowly educated persons, may even earn more money)

After 50 years old, 'beauty' and 'ugly' is the same. (No matter how pretty, at this age, wrinkles, dark spots, etc are starting to appear)

After 60 years old, 'high official' and 'low official' is the same. (After retirement, their status are the same)

After 70 years old, 'big house' and 'small house' is the same. (Joints degeneration, cannot walk, only require a little space)

After 80 years old, 'have money' and 'no money' is the same. (Even when spend money, also don't spend much)

After 90 years old, 'man' and 'woman' is the same. (Because, nobody can still do that sort of thing)

After 100 years old, 'lying down' and 'waking up' is the same. (After wake up also don't know what to do)

Your life and my life is like that, not much difference.

Take life easy, after all, having seen through life, that's life.

Cherish what you already have, find back what you have lost!

Life & Attitude

Look back and get experience!
Look forward and see hope!
Look around and find reality!
Look within and find yourself.

If there's something better than giving others the best of what we have, it is giving others the best of who we are.
Remember: Good persons are like street lights...they don't shorten the distance, but they light up the path and make the walk worthwhile.

The best things in life are the people you love, the places you've seen, and the memories you've made along the way.

There is a purpose for everyone you meet. Some people come into your life to test you, some to teach you, some to use you, and some to bring out the very best in you.

Making a hundred friends is not a miracle. The miracle is to make a single friend who will stand by your side even when hundreds are against you.

Time is like river. You cannot touch the same water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment of your life.

Life is like a camera,
Focus on what's important,
Capture the good times,
Develop from the negatives,
and if things don't work out, take another shot.

The only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude!
Happy people are always happy, not because everything is right in their life. They are happy because their attitude towards everything is right...

Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.

Your journey will be much lighter if you don't carry your past with you.

Stay Connected

Alone I can 'say' but together we can 'talk'.
Alone I can 'enjoy' but together we can 'celebrate'.
Alone I can 'smile' but together we can 'laugh'.
That's the beauty of human relations.
We are nothing without each other.

Stay connected!

Some Day & One Day

A friend of mine opened his wife's wardrobe and picked up a silk paper wrapper package.

"This," he said, "isn't any ordinary package."

He unwrapped the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box and silk satin dresses inside.

"She got this the first time we went to New York, 8 or 9 years ago. She has never put it on, was saving it for a special occasion. Well, I guess this is it."

He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothing he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had just died.

He turned to me and said, "Never save something for a 'special occasion'. Every day in your life is a 'special occasion'."

I still think those words changed my life.

Now I read more and clean less.

I sit on the porch without worrying about anything.

I spend more time with my family, and less at work.

I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through.

I no longer keep anything.

I use crystal glasses every day.

I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if I feel like it.

I don't save my special perfume for special occasions, I use it whenever I want to.

The words 'Someday...' and 'One day...' are fading away from my dictionary.

If it's worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see, listen or do it now.

I don't know what my friend's wife would have done if she knew she wouldn't be there the next morning, this nobody can tell.

Each day, each hour, each minute, is special.

Live for today, for tomorrow is promised to no-one.

Acceptance

When we don't accept an undesired event, it becomes Anger;
when we accept it, it becomes Tolerance.

When we don't accept uncertainty, it becomes Fear;
when we accept it, it becomes Adventure.

When we don't accept other's bad behaviour towards us, it becomes Hatred;
when we accept it, it becomes Forgiveness.

When we don't accept other's success, it becomes Jealousy;
when we accept it, it becomes Inspiration.

Acceptance is the key to handling life well.

5. Let go of negative self-talk.

10. Let go of worrying about the future.

Morning Thoughts

No one in this world is rich enough to buy his own childhood and youth back.
Only friends help to recreate those moments from time to time at no cost.

On this road called life, you have to take the good with the bad, smile with the sad, love what you got, and remember what you had. Always forgive, but never forget. People change. Things go wrong. But just remember, the ride goes on.

When you wish good for others, good things come back to you.

Be a reflection of what you'd like to receive.
If you want love, give love.
If you want truth, be truthful.
If you want respect, give respect.
What you give out will always return. - Kristen Butler

There is a purpose for everyone you meet.
Some people come into your life to test you, some to teach you, some to use you, and some to bring out the very best in you.

I like people who understand, who are not quick to judge, who see you at your best, and love you at your worst. They don't talk behind your back. They are real people and I'll keep them around.

As we get older, we don't lost friends. We just find out who the real ones are.

Strong people don't put others down...they lift them up.

Good friends are like stars. You don't always see them, but you know they're always there.

We come with nothing, we go with nothing, but one great thing we can achieve in our beautiful life is...A little remembrance in someone's mind, and a small place in someone's heart.

If you have a family that loves you, a few good friends, food on your table and a roof over your head. You are richer than you think.

Smile - it is the key that fits the lock of everybody's heart.

We all deserve to have a great day. Start the day with a grateful heart. Go through your day with contentment and positivity. Put love in everything you do, and always believe that a bit of miracle is waiting for you somewhere behind the radiant sunlight.

Think about these...

5 things to stop doing now:
1. Worrying
2. Living in the past
3. Thinking small
4. Doubting yourself
5. Overthinking

There are 7 things that will destroy us:
Wealth without work;
Pleasure without conscience;
Knowledge without character;
Religion without sacrifice;
Politics without principle;
Science without humanity;
Business without ethics. - Gandhi

Sometimes we need someone to simply be there. Not to fix anything, or to do anything in particular, but just to let us feel that we are cared for and supported.

Good relations are like needles of clock, they only meet for sometime but always stay connected.

Learn to love with all your heart and accept the faults of others in your life.
Remember, anyone can love a rose but it takes a great heart to include the thorns.

Trust takes years to build, seconds to break and forever to repair.

Always end your day with a positive thought...
No matter how things are, tomorrow is another chance to make things better.

Charlie Chaplin's lessons

Charlie Chaplin told the audience a wonderful joke and all the people started laughing...
Charlie repeated the same joke and only few people laughed...
He again repeated the same joke but this time no one laughed...
Then he said these beautiful lines:
"When you cannot laugh on the same joke again and again...then why do you cry again and again on the same worry"

So enjoy your every moment of life!!
Life is beautiful!

Charlie Chaplin's 3 heart-touching statements:

1. Nothing is permanent in this world, not even our troubles.

2. I like walking in the rain, because nobody can see my tears.

3. The most wasted day in life is the day in which we have not laughed.

Beautiful Quotes =)

Do not let the behaviour of others destroy your inner peace. - Dalai Lama

Everywhere you go, leave a glitter trail of kindness behind you, someone who needs it may just pick it up!

Everyday is a fresh start. Wake up with a grateful heart.

Happiness is meeting an old friend after a long time  and feeling that nothing has changed.

We come with nothing and go with nothing..
But one great thing we achieve is..
A little remembrance in someone's mind and a small place in someone's heart.

Let us be a player in life who runs for the goal..
And not a referee who looks for the faults.

Life is always full of surprises. You never know who you are going to meet that will change your life forever.

A beautiful face will age and a perfect body will change, but a beautiful soul will always be a beautiful soul.

Making a friend is an act of grace.
Having a friend is a gift.
Keeping a friend is a virtue.
Being a friend is an honor.

Be happy, be yourself.
If others don't like it then let them be.
Happiness is a choice.
Life isn't about pleasing everybody.

A man asked an artist...
How do you make such beautiful things from stone...
He replied,
'Beauty is already hidden there.
I just remove the extra stone...'
Your happiness is hidden within yourself...
Just remove your worries.

Superb Speech by Mr Ratan Tata at Symbiosis, Pune

Don't just have career or academic goals. Set goals to give you a balanced, successful life. Balanced means ensuring your health, relationships, mental peace are all in good order.

There is no point of getting a promotion on the day of your breakup. There is no fun in driving a car if your back hurts. Shopping is not enjoyable if your mind is full of tensions.

Don't take life seriously. Life is not meant to be taken seriously, as we are really temporary here. We are like a prepaid card with limited validity. If we are lucky, we may last another 50 years. And 50 years is just 2500 weekends. Do we really need to get so worked up?

...It's OK, bunk few classes, score low in couple of papers, take leave from work, fall in love, fight a little with your spouse... It's OK. We are people, not programmed devices!

Don't be serious, enjoy life as it comes.

Life Quotes

If there's one thing I've learned, it's this: We all want everything to be okay. We don't even wish so much for fantastic or marvelous or outstanding. We will happily settle for okay, because most of the time, okay is enough. - David Levithan

Don't be fooled by your emptiness, there's so much room for happiness!

Two things help success in life:
1. The way you manage when you have nothing
2. The way you behave when you have everything.

Beautiful things happen when you distance yourself from the negative.

When we all help one another everybody wins. - Jim Stovall

Rivers never go reverse - so try to live like a river, forget past and focus on future... always be positive!

We can save many relations, if we understand a simple fact that people are not wrong, they are different.

The secret to living longer and better:
Eat half...
Walk twice...
Laugh triple...
and love without measure. - Chinese proverb

The happiest people do not necessarily have the best things.
They simple appreciate the things they have.

There is a purpose for everyone you meet. Some people come into your life to test you, some to teach you, some to use you, and some to bring out the very best in you.

A lamp doesn't speak...it introduces itself through its light...
Achievers never expose themselves, but their achievements expose them.

While you were waking up today, someone else was taking their last breath. Be thankful for this day.

Life, the start and the end are similar, take advantage of the time in between.

Positive thinking isn't about expecting the best to happen every time, but accepting that whatever happens is the best for this moment.

Sometimes the strongest people are the ones who love beyond all faults, cry behind closed doors and fight battles that nobody knows about.

All Parents - Do Read

A man, an avid gardener, saw a small butterfly laying few eggs in one of the pots in his garden. Since that day he looked at the eggs with ever growing curiosity and eagerness.

The eggs started to move and shake a little.

He was excited to see a new life coming up right in front of his eyes. He spent hours watching the eggs now. The eggs started to expand and develop cracks. A tiny head and antennae started to come out ever so slowly. The man's excitement knew no bounds.

He got his magnifying glass and sat to watch the life and body of a pupa coming out. He saw the struggle of the tender pupa and couldn't resist his urge to 'help'. He went and got a tender forceps to help the egg break, a nip here, a nip there to help the struggling life and the pupa was out. The man was ecstatic!

He waited now each day for the pupa to grow and fly like a beautiful butterfly, but alas that never happened. The larvae pupa had an oversized head and kept crawling along in the pot for the full 4 weeks and died!

Depressed, the man went to his botanist friend and asked the reason. His friend told him the struggle to break out of the egg helps the larvae to send blood to its wings and the head push helps the head to remain small so that the tender wings can support it through its 4-week life cycle. In his eagerness to help, the man destroyed a beautiful life!

Struggles help all of us, that's why a bit of effort goes a long way to develop our strength to face life's difficulties!

As parents, we sometimes go too far trying to help and protect our kids from life's harsh realities and disappointments. We don't want our kids to struggle like we did.

Harvard psychiatrist Dr Dan Kindlon says that over-protected children are more likely to struggle in relationships and with challenges. We're sending our kids the message that they're not capable of helping themselves.

To quote clinical psychologist, Dr Wendy's Moral: "It is our job to prepare our children for the road and not prepare the road for our children."

What is Binding You?

A farmer was taking three of his donkeys for sale to the market. On the way he saw a river and decided to have a dip.

Since he had only two ropes to tie the donkeys to a tree, he looked around wondering how to tie the third one.

He saw a sage and sought his help if he could give him a rope to tie the third donkey. The sage did not have a rope but had a suggestion.

He told the farmer, "Let the third donkey see you tying the other two donkeys to a tree. Then you pretend to tie this one also."

The farmer did as he was told and went for a dip in the river. Coming back, he thanked the sage and saw that the donkeys stood exactly at the same spot where he had left them.

He untied the two donkeys and patted the third one to start moving. After going a little distance, imagine his surprise when the third donkey stood still at the same spot.

Cajoling, kicking or talking did not help with the donkey, refusing to move from the spot.

The farmer went back to the sage, who told him, "Untie the third donkey." "But," protested the farmer, "I have not tied him." The sage asked, "You know it. But does the donkey know that?"

Sure enough the farmer went back and pretended to untie the donkey. The donkey moved immediately as though released and walked over to join the other two donkeys.

We are all, also tied up by too many imaginary ropes... which are really non-existent. The only truth is there are no boundaries in real life and anyone can stretch to any extent. Don't we all see records being broken, every time, everywhere and everyday?

Our mind is a sacred enclosure into which nothing harmful can enter except with our permission.

Overtake

A boy with his parents was travelling in their car. Father was driving and son was sitting in the back. Dad was driving this car very carefully because it was quite dear to him.

After a few minutes later, a modern car overtook their car. Son told Father, "Dad this car went ahead of us, please use accelerator to overtake that car." Dad replied smiling, "Son, it is not possible, our car is not capable of going that fast."

Within a few seconds, another car went ahead of them. Son got annoyed by it and told dad to press accelerator.

Dad replied to son in anger, "You are only seeing cars which are going ahead of us. There are many cars behind us. If we try to catch up with those cars in front of us, we may end up doing damage to our car."

Son replied nicely, "Dad, you compare me with other smart kids and keep telling me to be like them. If I try to be like them, I might end up hurting myself right! You are only seeing smarter kids than me, but you are not seeing kids who are behind me."

All parents must read.

Smile For You

Smile is infectious, you catch it like the flu,
when someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner and someone saw my grin
When he smiled I realised I'd passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile then I realised its worth,
A single smile, just like mine could travel around the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin, don't leave it undetected
Let's start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected!

Harvard University Recommended 20 Happy Habits for 2016

1. Be grateful.

Slow down, look around you, and pay attention to the little details in your life - the delicate purple flower on the sidewalk, the beautiful sunset, the hot shower that washes away your long day, and the smile in your partner's eyes...

When you have a grateful heart that is appreciative of life's beauty, wonder and blessings, you're automatically filled with happiness.

2. Choose your friends wisely.

According to Harvard, the most important external factors affecting individual happiness are human relationships. So if you want to be happy, choose to be around people who are optimistic, who appreciate you as you are, and who can make your life richer, bigger, more fun, and more meaningful.

3. Cultivate compassion.

When we try to step into other people's shoes and understand a situation from another's perspective, we're more likely to handle the situation with compassion, objectivity and effectiveness. There will be less conflicts and more happiness.

4. Keep learning.

Learning keeps us young and dreams keep us alive. When we engage our brains and put them toward productive uses, we're less likely to dwell on unhappy thoughts and much more likely to feel happy and fulfilled.

5. Become a problem solver.

Happy people are problem solvers. When they encounter a challenge in life, they don't beat themselves up and fall into a depressive state. Instead, they face up to challenge and channel their energies toward finding a solution. By becoming a problem solver, you'll build up your self-confidence and your ability to accomplish whatever it is you set your mind to - and whatever challenges life throws your way.

6. Do what you love.

Since we spend over one-third of our adult life working, loving what we do has a huge impact on our overall happiness. If this is not possible at the moment, then try to find enjoyment and meaning in your current work, or cultivate a hobby that involves doing something you love.

7. Live in the present.

When you feel depressed, you're living in the past. When you feel worried or anxious, you're living in the future. But when you feel content, happy and peaceful, you're living in the present.

8. Laugh often.

Laughter is the most powerful anecdote to anger or depression. Research has shown that the simple act of curving the corners of your mouth can increase your feeling of happiness. So don't take life too seriously. Try to find humour and laughter in life's everyday struggles.

9. Practice forgiveness.

Resentment and anger are forms of self-punishment. When you forgive, you're actually practising kindness to yourself. And most importantly, learn to forgive yourself. Everyone makes mistakes. It's through our mistakes that we learn and grow to become a bigger and better person.

10. Say thanks often.

Always be appreciative of the blessings in your life. And it's equally important to express your appreciation to those who've made your life better in some way, big or small.

11. Create deeper connections.

Our happiness multiplies when we connect and bond with another human being on a deeper level. And being fully present and listening are two of the most important skills to strengthening that bond and bringing happiness to ourselves, and to others.

12. Keep your agreement.

Our self-esteem is built on the agreements we've made with ourselves. And high self-esteem has a direct correlation to happiness. So keep your agreements with others and with yourself.

13. Meditate.

According to Harvard, people who take 8 sessions of mindfulness meditation training are, on average, 20% happier than a control group. Such training can lead to structural brain changes including increased grey-matter density in the hippocampus, known to be important for learning and memory, and in structures associated with self-awareness, compassion and introspection.

14. Focus on what you're doing.

When you put your mind, heart and soul into what you're doing, you're creating a happiness state - called the 'flow'. When you're living in the flow, you're less likely to care about what others may think of you, and less bothered by things that are not that important. The result? More happiness, of course!

15. Be optimistic.

For happy people, the glass is always half full. If your tendency is to imagine the very worst-case scenario every time you face a challenge, then train yourself to reverse that tendency. Ask yourself what good can come out of the situation or what you can learn from it. Optimism surely fuels success and happiness.

16. Love unconditionally.

No one is perfect. Accept yourself for all of your imperfections. And do so for others. Loving someone unconditionally does not mean that you need to spend all your time with them or help them figure out their problems. Unconditional love means accepting people as they are, and allowing them to find their own ways, at their own pace.

17. Don't give up.

Unfinished projects and repeated defeats inevitably dampen one's self-esteem. If you've made up your mind to do something, see it through. Don't give up until you succeed. Remember, failure is temporary but defeat is permanent. And defeat only occurs when you give up.

18. Do your best and then let go.

Everyone has limitations, and things don't always turn out to be what we'd like them to be - despite our efforts. So always give your best, and then let go. Let events run their course. When you've done your best, you'll have no regrets.

19. Take care of yourself.

A healthy body is the key to happiness. If you have poor health, it's very difficult to be happy no matter how hard you try. So make sure you eat well, exercise and find time to rest. Take good care of your body, your mind and your spirit.

20. Give back.

Doing good is one of the surest ways to feel good. According to Harvard, when people do good, their brains become active in the very same reward centre that is stimulated when they experience other rewards. So it's not a surprise that people who care more about others are happier than those who care less about others.

Be positive

If you FAIL, never give up because FAIL means 'First Attempt In Learning'.

END is not the end. In fact, END means 'Effort Never Dies'.

If you get NO as an answer, remember NO means 'Next Opportunity'.

Be positive!

Smile, life

Every struggle in your life has shaped you into the person you are today. Be thankful for the hard times; they can only make you stronger.

A smile is a spiritual perfume you spray on others. Everyone near you benefits from it.

The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.

Enjoy the little things in life...for one day you'll look back and realise they were the big things.

Don't go for looks, they can deceive.
Don't go for wealth, even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.

Golden time of our life may not return back forever
But the good relation and the golden memories will stay in the heart forever.

Sometimes you have to give up on people.
Not because you don't care, but because they don't.

Life Quotes

Life may fail to be perfect, but it never fails to be beautiful.

Always find a reason to laugh. It may not add years to your life but will surely add life to your years.

I am perfect in my imperfection, happy in my pain, strong in my weakness and beautiful in my own way, because God is on my side!

When someone is so sweet to you, don't expect that they will be like that all the time...because even the sweetest chocolate also expires.

When life is sweet, say thank you and celebrate. When life is bitter, say thank you and grow. - Shauna Niequist

When you wish good for others, good things come back to you.

Life is boring if you don't laugh, joke around and be a little crazy every now and then. At the end of the day it's about being happy.

Sometimes it feels so good to just sit by yourself, relax and not talk to anyone. - Kristen Butler

We don't talk about trees getting older...we say they are 'growing'.
Let's use the same language for ourselves...we're not getting older, we are 'growing'.
That's the spirit of living.

Life is Like a Cup of Coffee

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups have been taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress."

"Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups."

"Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of life we live."

"Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee. Savor the coffee, not the cups!"

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

Think & Act

If you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it.
If you don't ask, the answer is always no.
If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place.

People need to learn that their actions do affect other people. So be careful what you say and do, it's not always just about you.

Before you act, listen.
Before you react, think.
Before you spend, earn.
Before you criticise, wait.
Before you pray, forgive.
Before you quit, try.

My Wish

After dinner, a teacher started checking homework done by the students. Her husband is strolling around with a smart phone playing his favourite game 'Candy Crush Saga'.

When reading the last note, the wife starts crying with silent tears.

Her husband saw this and asked, 'Why are you crying dear? What happened?'

Wife: 'Yesterday I gave homework to my Standard 1 students, to write something on the topic ''My Wish''.'

Husband: 'OK, but why are you crying?'

Wife: 'Today while checking the last note, it makes me cry.'

Husband curiously asked, 'What's written in the note that makes you cry?'

Wife: 'Listen to this..
My wish is to become a smart phone. My parents love smart phone very much. They care about smart phone so much that sometimes they forget to care about me. When my father comes home from office, he has time for smart phone but not for me.

When my parents are doing some important work and smart phone is ringing, within single ring they attend to the phone, but not me... even if I am crying.

They play games on their smart phones and not with me. When they are talking to someone on their smart phone, they never listen to me even if I am telling something important.

So, my wish is to become a smart phone.'

After listening to the note the husband got emotional and asked the wife, 'Who wrote this?'

Wife: 'Our son.'

Gadgets are beneficial, but they are for our ease, not to cease the love among our family and loved ones.

Children see and feel everything about what happens with and around them. Things get imprinted on their mind with an everlasting effect. Let's take due care, so that they do not grow with any false impressions.

Life is a Train Journey

Life is like a journey on a train...
with its stations..
with changes of routes...
and with accidents!

We board this train when we are born and our parents are the ones who get our ticket.

We believe they will always travel on this train with us.

However, at some station our parents will get off the train, leaving us alone on this journey.

As time goes by, other passengers will board the train, many of whom will be significant - our siblings, friends, children, and even the love of our life.

Many will get off during the journey and leave a permanent vacuum in our lives.

Many will go so unnoticed that we won't even know when they vacated their seats and got off the train!

This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, good-byes, and farewells.

A good journey is helping, loving, having a good relationship will all co passengers... and making sure that we give our best to make their journey comfortable.

The mystery of this fabulous journey is: We do not know at which station we ourselves are going to get off.

So, we must live in the best way - adjust, forget, forgive and offer the best of what we have.

Thank you for being one of the important passengers on my train... "Wishing all my passengers a nice day and blessed New Year 2016!"
