Keep a group of good friends

Many years ago, after I got married I was sitting on a couch on a hot, humid day, sipping frozen juice during a visit to my father.

As I talked about adult life, marriage, responsibilities and obligations, my father thoughtfully stirred the ice cubes in his glass and cast a clear, sober look at me.

"Never forget your friends," he advised, "they will become more important as you get older."

“Regardless of how much you love your family and the children you happen to have, you will always need friends. Remember to go out with them occasionally, do activities with them, call them..."

"What strange advice!" I thought. I had just entered the married world, I am an adult and surely my wife and the family that we will start will be everything I need to make sense of my life.

Yet I obeyed him; kept in touch with my friends and annually increased their number. Over the years, I became aware that my father knew what he was talking about!

In as much as time and nature carry out their designs and mysteries on a man, friends are the bulwarks of his life.

After 50 years of life, here is what I learned:

Time passes.

Life goes on.

The distances increase.

Children grow up and become independent and although it breaks the parents' heart, they are often separated from them.

Jobs come and go.

Illusions, desires, attractions, sex... weaken.

People do what they should not do.

Parents die.

Colleagues forget the favors.

The races are over.

But true friends are always there, no matter how long or how many miles away they are.

A friend is never more distant than the reach of a need, reaching out to you, intervening in your favor, waiting for you with open arms or with blessings for your life.

When we started this adventure called LIFE, we did not know of the incredible joys or sorrows that were ahead.

We did not know how much we would need from one another.

Love your parents, take care of your children, but keep a group of good friends.

Comparison and Competition is the thief of Joy

Such a beautiful message...worth reading !!!

I was jogging this morning and I noticed a person about half a km ahead.

I could guess he was running a little slower than me and that made me feel good, I said to myself I will try catch up with him.

So I started running faster and faster. Every block, I was gaining on him a little bit.

After just a few minutes I was only about 100 feet behind him, so I really picked up the pace and pushed myself. I was determined to catch up with him.

Finally, I did it! I caught up and passed him. Inwardly I felt very good. "I beat him".

Of course, he didn't even know we were racing.

After I passed him, I realized I had been so focused on competing against him that....

I had missed my turn to my house,

I had missed the focus on my inner peace,

I missed to see the beauty of greenery around,

I missed to do my inner soul searching meditation,

It then dawned on me, isn't that what happens in life when we focus on competing with co-workers, neighbours, friends, family, trying to outdo them or trying to prove that we are more successful or more important and in the bargain we miss on our happiness within our own surroundings?

The problem with unhealthy competition is that it's a never ending cycle.

There will always be somebody ahead of you,

someone with a better job,

nicer car,

more money in the bank,

more education,

a prettier wife,

a more handsome husband,

better behaved children,

better circumstances and

better conditions etc.

But one important realisation is that

You can be the best that you can be, when you are not competing with anyone.

Some people are insecure because they pay too much attention to

what others are,

where others are going,

wearing and driving,

what others are talking.

Accept it and realize, that you are blessed. Stay focused and live a healthy life.

There is no competition in Destiny. Each has his own.

Comparison AND Competition  is the thief of JOY.

It kills the Joy of Living your Own Life.

Run your own Race that leads to a Peaceful, Happy, Steady Life.

Wishing you a wonderful 2022!🙏🏻

Count Your blessing & enjoy It .

Points to ponder...

You cannot change the people around you, but you can change the people that you choose to be around.

- Roy T. Bennett

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Best exercise is walking.

Walk away from arguments that lead to anger.

Walk away from thoughts that steal your happiness.

The more you walk away from things that destroy your soul, the happier your life will be.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Life is beautiful if you know where to look.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Never blame anyone in your life.

Good people give you happiness.

Bad people give you experience.

Worst people give you a lesson and best people give you memories.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Knowledge decides what to say

Skill decides how to say

Attitude decides how much to say

Wisdom decides whether to say or not

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

You cannot be perfect without making mistakes.

You cannot get success without facing failures.

You cannot feel happiness without being sad.

Everything comes in a pair and you can never get one without facing the other.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

A positive mind finds opportunity in everything.

A negative mind finds fault in everything.

We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. - Mother Theresa

The sincerity of husband is known during the sickness of his wife.

The sincerity of wife is known during difficult financial situation of the husband.

The true love of the children is known during the old age of the parents.

The true nature of siblings is known during distribution of inheritance.

The sincerity of friends is known during hard times.

The true relatives are known when one is far from his country or lonely or sick.

True love is known when there is no means of benefit.

And a true believer is known during times of hardship.

Beautiful story with a lesson

 DUCK OR EAGLE? You decide.

I was at the airport when a taxi driver approached me.

The first thing I noticed in the cab was a phrase, I soon read:

- Duck or Eagle?

You decide.

The second thing I noticed was a clean, shiny cab, the driver well dressed, white shirt and well pressed pants, with a tie.

The taxi driver got out, opened the door for me and said:

"I am John, your chauffeur.

While I'm putting your luggage away, I'd like you to read on this card what my mission is."

On the card was written:

John's Mission

- To get my clients to their destination quickly, safely and economically, while providing a friendly environment.

I was impressed.

The interior of the cab was equally clean.

John asked me:

"Would you like some coffee?"

Joking with him I said:

"No, I'd rather have a juice."

He immediately replied:

"No problem.

I have a thermos with regular juice and also diet juice, as well as water," he also told me:

"if you wish to read, I have today's newspaper and also some magazines."

As the race began John told me:

"These are the radio stations I have and this is the repertoire they play."

As if that wasn't enough, João even asked me if the temperature of the air conditioning was good.

Then he told me what was the best route to my destination and if I wanted to talk to him or if he preferred that I not be interrupted.

I asked:

"Do you always serve your customers like this?"

"No," he replied.

"Not always.

Only in the last two years.

My first few years as a taxi driver I spent most of my time complaining just like the other taxi drivers.

One day I listened to a doctor who was a specialist in personal development.

He wrote a book called: Who you are makes the difference!

He said:

If you get up in the morning expecting to have a lousy day, you certainly will.

Don't be a DUCK!

Be an eagle!

Ducks just make noise and complain, eagles soar above the pack.

I was all the time making noise and complaining.

So I decided to change my attitudes and be an eagle.

I looked at the other cabs and drivers.

The dirty cabs, the unfriendly drivers, and the dissatisfied customers.

I decided to make some changes.

Since my customers responded well, I made a few more changes.

In my first year as an eagle, I doubled my turnover.

This year, I have already quadrupled it.

You are lucky you took my cab today. I am no longer at the cab stand.

My customers book through my cell phone or send me a message.

If I can't pick up, I get a trusted "Eagle" taxi driver friend to do the job."

John was different.

He offered a limousine service in a regular cab.

John, the taxi driver, decided to stop making noise and complaining like ducks do and started flying over the group like eagles do.

It doesn't matter whether you work in an office, with maintenance, a teacher, a civil servant, a politician, an executive, an employee, a freelancer, or a taxi driver!

How do you behave?

Are you dedicated to making noise and complaining? Or are you elevating yourself above the others?

Remember: THE DECISION IS YOURS!

That key only opens from the inside!

AND YOU HAVE LESS AND LESS TIME TO CHANGE!

2022 will be nothing new if we don't have new attitudes!

May we be better fathers, * better husbands better wives, better mothers, better children, better friends, better Workers!

May we not repeat the mistakes of the past!

May we pray more, praise more, thank more!

May God Almighty give us the wisdom we need to be eagles, so that we can fly high and live in a better world of peace!!!!

Relationships

Chinese President Xi Jin Ping's speech in Macau, quoted a very classic saying:

"Relationships based on gold will be forgotten once gold is spent.

Relationships based on benefits (interest, advantage) will soon break away once there's no more benefit to derive.

Relationships based on position (influence) will sway once position has fallen.

Relationships based on authority (power) will get abandoned once authority is lost.

Relationships based on feelings (favour, emotions, sentiments) will result in hurt once emotional ties are broken.

Only relationships coming from the heart can withstand the test of time. "

No matter what kind of relationship you're in, whether it is working in partnership or interpersonal relationship, we should cherish the karma that brought us together and the time we share. Keep good (kind) thoughts in mind, learn to be grateful, be sincere to others and build a relationship from your heart!

Associate with the wise and virtuous, you'll reap good results.

Realisation: Keep good thoughts with a kind heart, you're sure to have a cloud with silver lining in your life!

Every situation in life is temporary. So, when life is good, make sure you enjoy and receive it fully. When life is not so good, remember that it will not last forever and better days are on the way.
